It’s impossible to ignore the spectacular displays of nature and vibrant colours that appear everywhere in autumn but, when we reach November, and the winter draws closer, our instincts are to cosy up and settle in for the long dark nights.
This month I have created a homely and relaxed look using a natural palette of woody neutrals, combined with hints of warmth, colour and metallic shimmers to ensure a calm and welcoming glow in any room.

Flushed cheeks, wild berries, rosy apples, early sunsets; all the seasonal delights that bring pretty pink and red tints to this time of the year.
Rose gold has been a prominent feature in fashion for a while now; however, more recently it has been seen in home accessories, and now, in more permanent fixtures such as light switches and taps. This is a sure sign that a colour is here to stay, with this in mind I have added accents of rose gold and copper to give a luxurious feel being careful not to overdo the glitz but opting for a more discreet, understated look instead.

Styling your window for this look is easy with our wide range of textured, plain and natural fabrics such as the swatches shown here. For a clear and bright look with minimum coverage opt for transparent fabrics such as Meadow and Natural Shell. For soft light diffusion and privacy choose dim out fabrics such as Beach Comber, Vibrant Cerise and Natural Linen. And for insulation and black out choose from our range of black out fabrics such as Coffee.

Time constraints and busy lifestyles mean we often veer towards quick fixes and handy options when decorating. It’s all too easy to pick up cheap pieces and discard them on a whim or choose expensive pieces that have no personal attachment.
As the long dark evenings often mean spending more time indoors, we can think about how best to enhance our homes with homemade pieces that aren’t mass produced and tailor them with a personal touch.
So if you like to while away the evenings watching ‘Strictly’ or are hooked on the X-Factor why not challenge yourself to make your time spent indoors more productive? Try knitting a cosy snood or beanie hat while cheering on your favourites to win.
