Bloc Blinds is delighted to be joining Local Women bringing you our monthly style and interiors column. Focussing on upcoming trends and inspirational concepts across the home furnishings marketplace we explore ways of incorporating them into your home. This month we have highlighted the ever popular greys and how best to inject warmth and vibrancy into this cool, yet sophisticated, colour. Bloc’s creative team has just recently returned from Decorex and The London Design Fair in September where we met with the UK’s top interior designers and trades people. Of the many trends and new looks we encountered one of the most noticeable was the merging of textures. Growth and Success
From humble beginnings in Draperstown managing director, Cormac Diamond, has steered Bloc Blinds’ steady growth from product conception in 2006 to the recently relocated and custom built factory in Magherafelt, with over 100 employees. These are exciting times for us, we are proud to be a locally based manufacturing and design company, appointing home grown talent and driving local innovation to make our unique impact on the global blinds industry.

With a nationwide presence in John Lewis stores, an increasing customer base all over the UK, Ireland, mainland Europe and most recently in the US, we research emerging trends from all over and combine them with our own distinctive edge. Our aim is to change the perception of blinds in the home, making them more than just a background piece in a room and moving them into the home interiors market. By raising the profile of our unique designs and celebrating our versatility in what is traditionally a stale industry we hope that people get to see and understand our philosophy: Blinds but better! People usually buy blinds in plain colours with the intention that that they will remain there for the next number of years. Our game changing Fabric Changer Roller Blind offers a simpler and cost effective solution. It enables you to swap the fabric of the blind as often as you like without replacing or removing the complete system from the window. When the time comes to refresh your look simply change the fabric, and some keys pieces such as rug and cushions, and you have a totally new room. The system remains in situ, only the fabric is changed!

With the opening of our first Design Studio in Magherafelt customer sales and feedback assure us that greys are still a popular choice for home decor. Highlighted here are bestselling swatches of Brushed Platinum [in blackout fabric], the delicate stitched stripe of Doppler and the patterned Pebble [both in dim-out fabric]. We also have a large range of plain and textured fabrics in varying grey tones. For a specific shade to match your scheme we are happy to print the desired pantone colour using our colour printer. I’ve incorporated a range of textures here to show how easy this is to emulate a designer look. Hammered metallic surfaces work well with the smooth, glossy pendant light. Matte surfaces in leathers and ceramics teamed with textured linens , this hand woven basket by Benburb based basket maker Alison Fitzgerald and luxury velvet all pull together to provide depth and character to a room. So whilst this steadfast colour isn’t going anywhere one thing’s for sure; your room can be so much more than just a grey area! Shop Stylish Roller Blinds
